Tattooing / Body Piercing of Minors

NOTARY CLARIFICATION!

It has come to our attention that many of the newer shops in our area are not following the Florida state statutes as to

Tattooing or Body piercing of minors.

The law is very clear and leaves NO room for exceptions or interpretations. Shops that are not following the statutes are hurting us ALL!

They are damaging the reputation of the business that many of us have worked so hard to gain respect for.

By breaking the law they jeopardize the future of our industry.

If you patronize a shop that breaks the law you also jeopardize the future of tattooing and Body piercing in FL.

When the rules are constantly broken by HACK shops, the legislators simply add more regulations, more restrictions and in turn Higher costs for the customers.

It wont affect the HACK shops because they never last and will be gone in a year or so.

If a shop is willing to break the law as to requiring a notary, how many other short cuts will they take to make the sale?

Its a Scary thought!!!!!

AVOID the HACK shops that take shortcuts and threaten the future of our industry!

To clarify the issue:

As per FL statutes a minor may be Pierced or Tattooed

But must have Written, Notarized consent from their Parent or Legal Guardian. In addition if the minor is age 16 or under the Parent or Legal Guardian must be present during the procedure.

Pretty simple actually, unless you are a garden st. retard!

Things to keep in mind:

The parent must be an actual parent or legal guardian with PROOF, ie: court documents, birth certificate.

NO it cant be your uncle, your aunt or a step parent.

You and your parent must have a valid FL ID.

The notary must be a valid FL notary.

If you need a form, stop by the shop and we will provide one.

We actually prefer meeting the parents and discussing the procedure in advance so all questions may be answered to your full and complete satisfaction.

As a parent, taking the proper steps to insuring your child has a competent artist performing the procedure should be foremost in thought.

If you are willing to take your child to a HACK shop that doesn't follow the rules, you may have saved a few dollars, but is your childs

life worth gambling with??
